             ITS TIME TO TALK POLITICS

            VOTE YOUR VALUES

Uh-oh. We are told that we should never discuss politics or religion with our neighbors.  Its not polite or, at the very least, not usually the smart thing to do. But that does not mean that we as believers or as a Pastor, we can’t have an opinion about our government or who our leaders are.

If you listen to the liberal discussions of the elite in America today, they will tell you that we MUST KEEP THE CHURCH SILENT AND SEPARATED FROM THE STATE. They’ve tried to interpret us into the corner by swearing that the U. S. Constitution forbids us from speaking out! Simple put in my opinion, they are wrong!

In fact the Constitution forbids the government from establishing rules for religion, not vice-versa. (Go Read the 1st amendment for yourself) Our laws concerning non-profit, religious corporations do forbid us to endorse a candidate … soooo I won’t be doing that. But, they do allow us to discuss and advocate for the issues that affect you and I.

So, here’s my case for the issues that we believe. If every believer who truly believes in pro-life and pro-family issues would simply vote only for candidates who truly believe the same, the downward spiral of American culture would begin to change - beginning in the halls of our elected officials.  If “Christians” would vote only for candidates who support pro-life and pro-family issues, we would soon begin to get pro-life and pro-family legislation!

But, if you prefer to vote for a certain political party (just because Grandpa did) or for some lame economic issue, you deserve what you get. (Tell me, do you actually believe that politicians want to help your personal economic situation? Do you think that the president or congress can actually change your financial status?)  Tell me, do you trust a politician instead of trusting God as your source? (See Deut. 8:18)

FACTS:  In the last major election, less than 1/3 of evangelical voters (believers like you and me) even bothered to vote. Do you know the

results of that apathetic attitude? The Baltimore Sun described this congress as “the most pro-choice Congress in the history of our nation. “ What’s worse? Some 24 million potential evangelical voters are not even registered to vote!  (Listen- don’t make me get started on the silly, even unpatriotic, excuses they use!)

By contrast, well over 90% of the Homosexual community vote in every election! They care enough to register in mass, campaign loudly, and vote regularly.  So, fellow believers, since we outnumber the anti-family, pro-death group by millions, lets let our voices be heard. All we have to do to begin the change in our culture is to speak up and vote!                                   1 Peter 2:13-15

13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake,  …. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. May I suggest that you read the whole passage, along with Romans 13? Peter and Paul both describe how we must be good citizens of the world.

Bottom Line:  Get yourself registered to vote, get your evangelical friends registered, and then have them vote their values … and nothing else!

Just imagine what this country and our life would be like if evangelical voters turned out in mass at every election, local state and national, then we voted for godly, spirit-led leaders for every office, from the White House to the dog-catcher.

If we do not, the alternative is to continue to allow a small minority of people to trash our culture our heritage. Then, by the way, you will be forced to keep your complaining mouth shut. You will have given away your right to complain about the way things are going. You have no right to complain about who gets elected or how they run things, if you don’t vote.

PLEASE VOTE YOUR VALUES AND NOTHING ELSE!
